View Document History
Document history is stored and accessible once a document has been opened from the registry. This feature provides a complete audit trail of document activity, including status changes, edits, removals, and uploads. A timeline view is displayed, detailing the date, time, and user associated with each action performed on the document.
To view document history:
- Locate the required document within the registry, using the search and filter functions if necessary.
- Select the document name to open the document page.
- Navigate to the ‘History’ tab within the right-hand panel adjacent to the document.
- The document activity timeline will then be displayed.
Document Versions
It is expected that multiple versions of a document may exist throughout the duration of a study. The document management solution within AnovaOS™ retains all superseded document versions, allowing them to be viewed and downloaded when required.
Within the document registry, only the current version of a document is displayed by default. Previous versions remain accessible through the document version history.
To view document versions:
- Locate the required document within the registry, using the search and filter functions if necessary.
- Select the document name to open the document page.
- Navigate to the ‘Versions’ tab within the right-hand panel adjacent to the document.
- A list of all superseded document versions will be displayed, including the associated upload date and time.
- Select the three dots adjacent to the relevant version to access available actions, including:
- Restore document version
- Preview superseded version
- Download document version
View Document Metadata
Document metadata can be viewed in a concise summary format within the document management solution. Available information includes the document title, document number, document creator, creation date and time, version number, document status, and folder location.
In addition, document status dates may be viewed to provide visibility of the document’s progression through the review and approval workflow. To view document metadata:
- Locate the required document within the registry, using the search and filter functions if necessary.
- Select the document name to open the document page.
- Navigate to the ‘Edit Info’ tab within the right-hand panel adjacent to the document.
Edit Document Information
Document information may require updating throughout the document lifecycle. This may include changes to the associated study, applicable countries, document classification, or other metadata.

- Locate the required document within the registry, using the search and filter functions if necessary.
- Select the document name to open the document page.
- Navigate to the ‘Edit Info’ tab within the right-hand panel adjacent to the document.
- From this tab, the following information may be updated:

Remove Documents
Where a document is no longer required, for example due to outdated or incorrect information, it may be removed from the document management system. To remove a document:

- Select the three dots adjacent to the document title.

- Removed documents remain accessible within the ‘Removed Documents’ section located at the bottom of the folder navigation panel.
Restore Documents
Documents that have been removed or updated during the course of a study may need to be revisited and restored. Within AnovaOS™, document versions can be restored from the version history, and fully removed documents can also be recovered from the ‘Removed Documents’ section.
To restore a document version:
- Select the required document title to open the document page.
- Navigate to the ‘Versions’ tab within the right-hand panel.

Favorite a Document
Frequently accessed or important documents can be added to the ‘Favorite Documents’ section within AnovaOS™ to support quicker navigation and improved accessibility. This removes the need to repeatedly search through the folder structure to locate key documents. To add a document to favorites:
- Locate the required document within the document registry.
- Select the three dots adjacent to the document title.
- Choose ‘Add to Favorites’. The document will then appear within the ‘Favorite Documents’ section in the left-hand navigation panel.
