AnovaOS can be custom tailored in many ways by users and also as part of a deployment for a sponsor or study. Therefore, the visuals in this portal are only samples; the screens you see might differ from them. The system uses roles to provide pertinent information to the right person based upon their job responsibilities. What you see and what you do in the system might also vary from what’s displayed in this portal, depending on the security permissions that have been assigned to you.
What Browser to Use
AnovaOS works well with most modern web browsers, including any version of Chrome, Safari and Firefox that was released in the past couple of years. Using other browsers or older browsers is not recommended and may cause slow operation or display problems. That’s because these old browsers do not support the newer internet technologies used by the system and many other modern websites.
Screen Layout
All the screens in AnovaOS share a common structure, though the contents vary:
- System Header: This header identifies the system, and includes a search function, messaging and notification system icons. It also lists the name and an image of the user, with easy navigation to the user profile, user organization profile, organization studies, account settings, and a logout function.
- System Navigation: This section contains links that you can use to navigate AnovaOS. Once clicked, the links will expand to describe subsections (if any).
- Object Navigation: This section contains links that you can use to navigate objects selected within AnovaOS (e.g. profiles). For complex objects, a second object navigation panel is used (e.g. studies, applications).
- Components: This is the area on the screen where you view data or interact with AnovaOS.
Navigation
AnovaOS organizes your profile, research relationships, and study data using tabs, subtabs, and components, described below. Tabs and subtabs are accessed by clicking the tab and subtab links that are displayed on the system header and system navigation panels.
Tabs appear in both the system header and system navigation panel. They represent the major functions or collections of data within AnovaOS. Clicking the Anova logo allows easy navigation to the users landing page.
- Sponsors:
- Studies:
- Research Sites:
- Study Personnel:
- Applications:
Subtabs appear below a tab when it is clicked. They can only be accessed when you have selected the parent tab. The links for subtabs are displayed immediately below tabs.
Tooltips and Truncated Items
A tool tip is a pop-up that appears when the mouse cursor is held motionless (“hovered”) over an item in the AnovaOS user interface, such as a button, an icon, of a piece of data:
Another common use of tool tips is to display the full text of an item that has been truncated (cut short) due to the lack of space. An ellipsis (…) indicates that the item has been truncated.
Selecting Dates
Whenever you specify a date in AnovaOS, you can either type the date in mm/dd/yyyy or use a pop-up calendar to select it. To open the pop-up, click the calendar icon to the right of the text box. The calendar appears near the icon. If the date you need is in the current month and year, select it now. Otherwise, you can step backwards or forwards either a month, year or decade at a time by firstly clicking the month/year in the title of the calendar and subsequently clicking the year in the title of the calendar to navigate by year/decade. Selecting the month/year you need will then return you to the main interface.
